A life less ordinary in Chiang Mai & Pai
We are taking you to one of the popular place in the North. Chiangmai and Pai are the main destination for this trip. Our objective is easy, we just want to sit & relax, so we plan the 4 days 3 nights road trip.
DAY 1
We hit the road from Bangkok in late morning and arrive Chiangmai around 4 pm. It is about 7 hour drive and it feels just like the blink of the eye, especially if you are not the driver. In Chiangmai, we book the hotel called “ Yesterday the Village”. The hotel is hidden in Nimmarnhemin Road, one of the busiest street in Chiangmai.
The architecture is colonial style with the touch of the old days. The price is reasonable (1,700 baht per double standard room).

There are tonns of cute little shops around the hotel including Star Bucks (I know… they are everywhere!), Cafe, Restaurants, Internet Cafe, Galleries. The kind of place that you can sit and enjoy looking people walking by.
Suriyan Chandra…great place to find the rare CD especially if you are Jazz lover. Staff is very helpful and got good knowledge of the song available. The place is full of color and photography is allowed !

After checking in, we browse around the City and book our dinner at the Gallery Restaurant. The restaurant is one of the popular one and recommend to book in advance. The location is great. It is next to Ping river and the food has all the varieties, Thai, Northern Thai, European, you name it!
Tonight we decide to go to Chiangmai Night Bazaar. The place is full of tourist and offer lots and lots of things. Just wondering around was fun already.

DAY 2
Next morning we started our trip in the early morning. Our first destination is Pong Duad National Park. Pong Duad National Park is about half way from Chiangmai to Pai. The highlight is the hot spring and its surrounding. Room is available to rent for tourist but need to book in advance since the resort is belong to the Forest Department of Thailand.

After a short stop at Pong Duad National Park, we head to Pai, the dream vacation for many persons. It takes about 2 hour drive from Chiangmai to Pai. The distance is only about 100 km but the local has counted about 700 curves to get to Pai. However, it is all worth it.
We stay at The Quarter Hotel for our first night in Pai. The hotel is so convenient and locates right in the center of Pai (4,300 baht per room per night).
Pai City Center

Night Market in Pai is amazing! Someone said New York is a melting pot, we recommend that person to visit Pai, and she or he will know the real melting pot. We heard people talking in different languages and there are soooo many international cuisine available in Pai. Our menu include Northern Thai food, Pizza, Kebab, and lots and lots of coffee, which we still can’t figure out why people here love coffee so much.

Motor Bike is the great way to observe the locals

DAY 3
Visit Northwest of town , a Shan village, a Lahu village and Lisu village, a Chinese village called Ban Santichon. People usually rent a motor bike or bicycle to wondering around Pai. Ban Santichon is one of the biggest Chinese communities migrated from Yunan, it is about 4 km from Center Pai.
The Mud House

Today we move to stay at Pai HotSpring Resort, the resort is about 6 km from Center Pai, but the uniqueness of this place is its hot spring. The Pool Villa has its own outdoor Jacuzzi and the view of Pai river. The price is 4,000baht per room per night (max 3 adults in one room).
